What is Toolbox?

The NIH Toolbox for Assessment of Neurological and Behavioral Function will provide investigators with a brief, yet comprehensive measurement tool for assessment of cognitive function, emotional health, sensory and motor function.  It will provide an innovative approach to measurement that will be responsive to the needs of researchers in a variety of settings, with a particular emphasis on measuring outcomes in clinical trials and functional status in large cohort studies, e.g. epidemiological studies and longitudinal studies.

Healthy individuals from the general population ages 3 to 85.

Will the use of Toolbox be mandated by the NIH?

No. Use of The Toolbox is voluntary. The project will undertake extensive outreach efforts to obtain as much stakeholder input as possible to help ensure that the tools are as useful as possible to potential users
